The Ultimate Travel Guide to Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech is a beautiful and captivating 1000-year-old city in Northern Africa, Morocco. A trip to Marrakech is filled with amazing food, stunning architecture, beautiful riads, and vibrant souks.

Here’s our travel guide to Marrakech, Morocco!

Language: You’ll hear a mix of languages including French, Spanish, Arabic, and Berber. English is common, but it’s good to know a few words of French.

Currency: Morocco uses dirhams, and we recommend you always carry cash.

Climate: Warm all year round but the summer days are especially hot, averaging highs of 37 degrees.

Clothing: Morocco is a Muslim country, so we’d recommend packing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that cover your shoulders and knees.

GETTING AROUND MARRAKECH

It’s relatively easy to get around on foot or by taxi. We mostly walked everywhere, but quickly discovered that you will find locals on the street trying to direct you one way or another. They will offer directions and then ask for money in return, so simply politely decline and move along or be ready to pay.

WHERE TO EAT

We loved every meal we had in Morocco! We ate couscous, tagines, skewers, and different traditional salads.

Here is a list of our favourite restaurants to try in Marrakech:

This is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Marrakech! This beautiful house and its gardens were designed by Jaques Majorelle and later bought by Yves St Laurent.
