Best Affordable Accommodation in Madeira: Casa Maravilha

Mountain peaks, diverse ocean wildlife, exotic birds, extraordinary natural landscape, bars serving rum mixed with fresh fruit juice and so much more. This is Madeira – a vibrant green island set in the Atlantic Ocean that has been attracting travelers for more than 100 years.

This summer, we stayed at Casa Maravilha, located in one of the most popular areas of Madeira, Calheta. Casas Maravilha aims to ensure that guests can have a fully immersive experience of the local culture.

The property offers a range of sustainable houses and individual suites, all named to honor the hard work of locals who built the surrounding plantations.

Our cabin was made from recycled wooden pallets, glass and other sustainable materials. It had a comfortable double bed, a kitchenette, and a bathroom with a shower.

We spent five days surrounded by agriculture, farm animals and enjoyed their lounge area that was open to all guests 24/7.

If you’re looking for affordable accommodation that allows you to embrace Madeira’s rural side, this is for you.
