Best budget stay in Dublin: The Generator Hostel

One thing about me is that if I stay in a hostel, I make sure it’s a good one, and the Generator Dublin impressed me. It’s sociable, centrally located, offers all-day food and drink, and is perfect for an affordable city stay.

The hostel has a hot tub, cinema room, lockers, laundry room, games room, outdoor seating space, 24-hour reception, and sometimes even live music. There was always plenty of staff around, with information on local activities and attractions. However, there are no self-catering kitchen facilities, so if you’re looking to save money on your trip and cook for yourself, this isn’t the place to do that. But food is available all day in the café, and there’s a full bar with a decent selection of Irish beers and spirits, serving drinks until late.

The location is great. The city center is only a 10-minute walk away, and it is close to many popular attractions, such as the Cobblestone Bar, Light House cinema, and a variety of bars and restaurants.

There are various room choices, from 10-bed dorms to private rooms and female-only spaces. Our room was clean and comfortable, with wooden floors, large windows, and lots of natural light. Private and smaller rooms have en-suites; all rooms come with lockers, sockets by each bed, reading lamps, and mirrors. Towels are complimentary in private rooms, but you’ll have to pay a small fee if you stay in one of the other rooms.

The best thing about Generator Dublin is that it’s a budget-friendly option. Shared rooms are available for as low as €12 (£10) in the low season and €27 (£23) in the high season, making it a great choice for travelers who are looking for a fun, affordable stay in the city.
