Best Budget Stay in Marrakech: Equity Point Hostel

Originating from Middle Eastern architecture, Morocco’s riads are traditional houses built around an interior garden or courtyard. Over the past few years, many of the Riads in Marrakech have been transformed into luxury hotels, with big names such as the Oberoi and Four Seasons among them. But is it possible to experience this on a budget?

Equity Point Marrakech is a stunning 15th-century riad nestled in the heart of the Medina. Like most hostels, you can stay in one of their private rooms or shared dormitories while still enjoying all the features you’d want from a traditional riad, including terraces, hammocks, a swimming pool, and a rooftop bar/restaurant.

Me and Kyra always choose our hostels carefully, and Equity Point Marrakech was a pleasant surprise. We decided to stay in a shared mixed dormitory, which came with a private bathroom and lockers for our valuables. The best part? We only had to pay £11 per night!

The rooms at Equity Point Marrakech were simple yet comfortable, with clean beds (very important). We had one plug socket by our bunk, which was fine as we took turns. However, solo travelers might find this inconvenient. The staff could not have been friendlier; they shared recommendations for our visit and showed us some of their favorite Moroccan songs to add to our playlist.

Morocco is a Muslim country, so don’t expect to come here and find lots of activities involving drinking. It definitely wasn’t a very social hostel, but if you want to experience staying in a riad for an affordable price, this is a great option!
