Best Places to Stay in Madeira: Les Terrasses Suites

What the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira lacks in size, it makes up for in Hawaii-esque beaches, thick forests, unbelievable wildlife, incredible hikes, and much more. Couple all of that with stylish accommodation and consistently warm weather, and you’ve got a perfect year-round holiday destination.

This summer, we stayed at Les Terrasses Suites, located in one of the most popular areas of Madeira Island; Calheta. The stylish Villa is split into four individual suites and was named to honour the hard work of locals in the past who built the surrounding plantations.

Gabriel and Jorge designed the suites to mirror the encompassing nature: walls are made from the island’s volcanic rock, and earthy hues are punctuated by tastefully chosen furniture. Each suite overlooks the ocean, with views of the pool from the terrace. It’s the kind of place that charms you into staying longer than you’d planned.

Guests can enjoy a flat-screen TV (with Netflix), a well-fitting kitchen, and a fantastic bathroom with a shower and complimentary toiletries. A microwave, a fridge and a stovetop are also provided as well as a coffee machine.

The property has easy access to a supermarket (5-minute drive) and Calheta marina, where you can enjoy a selection of bars, restaurants and shops.
