Designed by two young Dutch designers Remko Verhaagen and Sikko Valk, the Good hotel is a perfect mix of industrial, modern, natural and simple. The floating hotel with a rooftop terrace and waterfront views of London, first opened its doors in Amsterdam and after a year, was transported over to its current location on the Royal Victoria docks.
Bedrooms. The room we stayed in had a big window with a waterfront view and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. It was small and simple but had everything you could need in a hotel room: comfortable bed, in-room safe, tea / coffee making facilities, a desk, a big mirror and free Wi-Fi.
Food and drink. Their food and drink is locally sourced and served all day in the living room (guest lounge area) which is bright and spacious with a great view. The breakfast buffet has a range of delicious healthy food and drink options, including smoothies, fresh orange juice and a coffee corner. Depending on the weather, you can enjoy the rooftop terrace which is an open-air cafe overlooking the city of London and the river.
Location. Just a 10-minute walk from Canary wharf. The central location is great for entertainment and sightseeing with lots of tourist attractions nearby. It’s also directly next to the Emirates Royal docks a cable-car ride over the Thames.
The Good hotel offers unemployed locals a chance to gain hospitality training with successful trainees getting on-the-job training and a full-time salary at the establishment. In addition to this, for every booking made on their website, 5 £ per night is donated to Niños de Guatemala — a nonprofit organization that seeks to contribute to a better future for the children of Guatemala and their families.
